The Project:
KLH Sustainability has been providing client-side services on sustainable design and construction for the Sky Campus in Osterley since 2013. KLH is responsible for development and implementation of the Sustainability Framework for the latest project of the ambitious masterplan at the Sky campus.
The sustainability framework, based on an aggressive Single Use Plastics Policy and circular economy principles, aims to minimise carbon impact and the consumption of virgin raw materials throughout the building life cycle.
Using the theory of ‘Building in Layers’, KLH Sustainability translated the concept into individual targets for different building elements based on their associated life span. The framework provides guidance to the design team by defining the associated building elements and contributing parties for each layer and suggests practical ideas to reduce resources demand, waste and single use plastics (SUPs) in line with circular economy principles.
